Major Project Grant 2020-22

The Foundation’s larger, team-based Major Project Grant will be available for an amount not exceeding $450,000 (GST exclusive) over three years, to be allocated on the basis of $150,000 per annum (+/-20% each year). These grants are designed to significantly increase our investment in high quality local health and medical research.

Aims of the Major Project Grant:

  • to provide support and enable capacity building for an early to mid-career researcher and their team to undertake a focused program of research over three years, for example by providing salary, consumables and additional research staff within a budget threshold of $150k pa (+/-20% each year);
  • to foster greater collaboration across disciplines and amongst researchers at various stages of their research careers, with support from a senior mentor and broader research team. Therefore, while Major projects will be led by a Chief Investigator A, they should also include a team of researchers who will collectively enable delivery against strategic objectives; and
  • to encourage the team to engage with other established research groups, centres and commercial bodies.
