Major Project (formerly Project) Grants 2018-20

The Foundation’s larger, team-based Major Project Grant (formerly Project Grant) will be available for an amount not exceeding $450,000 (GST exclusive) over three years, to be allocated on the basis of $150,000 per annum (+/-20% each year). These grants are designed to significantly increase our investment in high quality local health and medical research.

Aims of the Major Project Grant:

  • to provide support and enable capacity building for an early to mid-career researcher and their team to undertake a focused program of research over three years, for example by providing salary, consumables and additional research staff within a budget threshold of $150k pa (+/-20% each year);
  • to foster greater collaboration across disciplines and amongst researchers at various stages of their research careers, with support from a senior mentor and broader research team; and
  • to encourage the team to engage with other established research groups, centres and commercial bodies.

Call for Expressions of Interest (EoIs) closed on 5.00 pm Friday 28 July 2017

Assessment Timetable;

  • EoIs assessed between early August – late September 2017 [reviewed by the Foundation’s Scientific Research Advisory Committee (SRAC)]
  • Unsuccessful EoIs notified: late September 2017
  • Stage Two Submission(s) requested from top EoIs: late September 2017
  • Stage Two Submission(s) assessed between late October – mid December 2017
  • Applicants notified of outcome: December 2017
