A gift in your Will

Ensure your legacy lives on by leaving a gift

You can make a gift to our Foundation in your Will (this is often called a bequest), as a gesture of generosity, no matter how large or small. Often a gift to the RHH Research Foundation is made by people who have a desire to assist medical research into the future, leaving a lasting legacy that contributes to the broader community in a very tangible way.

Why leave a gift to the RHH Research Foundation?

A gift is a most generous gesture and a truly effective way to assist us in continuing our valuable work. By providing for the future of medical research, we can continue to improve the health and quality of life for generations to come.

These thoughtful contributions can make a significant difference to the number of research grants the RHH Research Foundation is able to award each year.

How to leave a gift in your Will

There are many ways you can leave a gift. We encourage you to seek legal advice when writing or updating your Will. Your solicitor or other qualified professional can help you make the choice that’s right for you and to express this in the most appropriate way.

What your gift can achieve

The generosity of people who have left a gift in their Will has been instrumental in ensuring  our continual investment in local medical research over almost two decades.

Over half of all donations made to the RHH Research Foundation come from gifts in Wills. Thanks to these generous gifts, we’ve been able to provide further grant funding in areas including cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and various neurological diseases.

Suggested wording for your Will

If you would like to donate to the RHH Research Foundation in your Will, please find an example of suggested wording below (please use this as a guide only – the exact wording will depend on the type of bequest you’ve decided to make):

“I give, devise and bequeath to the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation (ABN 32 255 262 915), Hobart, Tasmania, the (residue/percentage/specific sum) to be used for the purposes of medical research.”

We recommend that if you wish to make a bequest, you should discuss this with your solicitor or the Office of the Public Trustee, who can assist with the preparation of your Will.

What if I already have a Will?

If you already have a Will, it is easy to add the RHH Research Foundation as a benefactor. After your careful consideration, simply contact your solicitor or the Public Trustee and add the appropriate wording naming the RHH Research Foundation as a recipient of your gift.

Let us know if you have left a gift

If you have made the important decision to leave the Foundation a gift in your Will, please let us know so we can thank you personally.
